Properties of amber

Amber - is the fossilized resin of ancient conifers and has a range of unique physical, medicinal and magical properties.

Physical and chemical properties

Origin: Fossilized fossil resin (organic compound).

Composition: Polymer, consists of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen, formula approximately $C _ {10} H _ {16} O$. Contains from 3% to 8% succinic acid.

Hardness (Mohs): Very low, from 2 to 2.5-3. It's soft and easy to handle.

Density: Low, about $1.05 - 1.12\text {g }/\text {cm} ^ 3 $. Thanks to this property, amber floats in salt water (but sinks in fresh water).

Thermal properties: Pleasant and warm to the touch, quickly heats up in the hands. It melts at a temperature of about $350 - 380\text { °C} $and burns, giving off the aroma of needles.

Electrification: Amber has the ability to electrify with friction (accumulates a negative charge). It was from the Greek name of amber ēlektron (electron) that the name of electricity was derived.

Glitter: Resin, wax.

Variety: Can be clear, translucent or opaque (bone, cloud) and have a wide range of colors, from light yellow and honey to red, brown, green and even blue.

⚕️ Therapeutic properties (Amber-therapy)

It is believed that amber, especially succinic acid (contained in stone), has a beneficial effect on the body:

Thyroid: The most famous use is to wear amber beads at throat level to improve thyroid function, as amber releases iodine and succinic acid when in contact with the skin.

Biostimulant and Antioxidant: Succinic acid is a powerful biostimulant that boosts immunity, normalizes cellular metabolism, and fights free radicals.

Nervous system: Helps relieve stress, nervous tension, improves sleep and fights depression.

Circulatory system: Promotes normalization of pressure (especially in hypertension) and improves heart function.

✨ Magical properties

Since ancient times, amber has been considered a powerful amulet and symbol of the sun:

Protection and amulet: Amber is a strong protective stone that drives away negative energy, evil eye and damage.

Happiness and longevity: Symbolizes optimism, creativity, health and longevity.

Attracting luck: Yellow and honey shades help clarify thoughts, make good decisions and attract financial well-being.

Home charm: Often used as a home mascot to protect the home and ensure the well-being of the family.
